While Patrick Stewart is known for being famous for his iconic roles, many people also knew his passion and love for dogs. He once fostered a pit bull named Ginger while he waited with her for a forever home.
Fostering Ginger left a lingering joy in my life that I believe is here to stay. Happy to share that she has found a forever home, and in her honour, I'm raising money for Wags and Walks for #GivingTuesday. And now, he’s back at it again, as he posted a photo of Emma the pit bull on his Twitter Page. He introduced his newly fostered dog and described how sweet Emma is.
After a few days together, Stewart and Emma formed a bond. They spend most of their time together, and he even posted a video of them napping together on the couch. Emma seemed mesmerized with Stewart as she cannot stop smiling at him while she watches him sleep.
Unfortunately, Stewart’s work requires him to travel often from the U.S. to the U.K. and vice versa, and the BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) made it hard for him to take a pit bull to the U.K. with him.
And while it is not possible for him at the moment to take a pit bull home with him, at least he’s giving his best to help. By providing a dog a place to stay while they wait for their forever home, he experiences a glimpse of happiness of taking home a dog.
It is incredible how much we connect with dogs, that while some of us have a few and limited options, we still find a way to experience having them one way or the other. I believe that we provide these dogs a big deal of love by just taking them in, and it does not matter if it is only for a short time.
They appreciate us that even if we do so little, it means the world to them. Dogs’ willingness to connect with us is so in-depth that we are left with a vast void when they leave us.
